Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 to a low-income family, with twelve kids eventually included, discovered early that she could get away from suffering through her vivid imagination. Before learning how to write and read Dolly Parton had already begun to compose her own songs. Once she had her first guitar at the age 8, she started to play at radio stations in Knoxville in Tennessee. Gold Band Records is a small, independent label. While she was at school, she already established herself on the local scene. Her goal was to be able to perform at a much greater scale. The day after she graduated in 1964, she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) and Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Porter Wagoner's syndicated TV show needed a new singer at around this time. Parton signed with RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She was hired in the year 1967. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974 as her solo songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. The song by Parton, I Will Never Have Love for You (for Wagoner), hit the No. #1 spot following their broke up. #1 for the first time since 1974.
